New Packaging for High Noise Environments
CMT is pleased to announce new amplifier packaging designs for noisy environments. The chassis incorporates shielded SMA connectors for all DC connections, amplifier supply and input DC Bias tees. Typically, these connections have been made using 2 wire connections which are susceptible to random noise and RFI signals. Long, unshielded connections act like an antenna that will absorb RF energy such as WIFI and Bluetooth signals. In addition, Cryocoolers can emit pulses in the air that can be absorbed through the DC wiring and superimposed onto the desired signal. The DC wiring inside the dewar is typically long and easily absorbs interfering signals.
To solve this problem, CMT designed special chassis for all of our amplifier products that incorporates shielded coax connections for all DC signals. Low current, high sensitive DC signals such as input Bias tees and HEMT gate bias voltages and shielded from RFI and other interfering noise.
Applications include high sensitive physics experiments in high noisy environments. Radio astronomy front end receivers where any RFI signal can overpower the energy generated light years away. And sensitive space applications where shielding is at a minimum.
